The Cabin Logs

June 2001

June 22, 2001

6/22 - 6/24

Dan and Denise came up. Saturday they went to the Jordan River Valey and to Dead Man's Hill where a wedding had just taken place. (which is kind of funny since the reason it is called Dead Man's Hill is because a logger who was supposed to get married died there the day before his wedding).

Then they went over to the Pigeon River and to the elk viewing site(No elk but the gas plant looks nice... Then Sunday put up some string and some bags of deer repellant, then went home.

6/15 - 6/16

Dan came up on Friday night late went to the river but was a little late. Sat mowed lawn, and cleaned up around flower beds. (weed wacked, weeded them). Went to go fishing and then straight home after on Sat. night... (will report to log on fishing next time he's up).

6/8 - 6/10

mike came up with his Dad and both brothers. Fished at St. Helen in Dad's boat + a row boat. Caught 5 northerns, 10" to 17", a 11" crappie, 2 (cannot read word) sized perch, and a whole mess of blue gill, rock bass, perch, and other sun fish.

Mike = Matt went canoeing on Mason Tract. Mike ripped off his big toenail at the castle, and we did not flip the canoe any more than three times.

Didn't see any hatches coming off, so we didn't do any fly-fishing.

6/1-6/3

Dan came up. Fished a little on Fri night... Then the rain came and did not stop till Sunday morning... With the exception of about 3 hours Sat. afternoon. So he fished some in the rain and some in the evening. There was a real lite Drake hatch by the old camp site and he caught a small brookie. There were maybe 5 fish feeding around a downed tree but were feeding real speratic. 3 of them jumped at the fly only the one took it... This was about 6 pm. Then, around 8 or so Dan got sick of the deep water and went looking for a bigger hatch... never found one every so often at Chase Bridge a Drake would float by, but not more than that.

Sunday the rain stopped and Dan finished the one flower bed...
