10/22/2004: www.houghten.com gives birthdate of September 24, 1828 Elizabeth and Thomas Render came from England soon after they were married. They settled on a farm on Grand River and soon moved to Southfield Township, on the East side of Lahser Road between 12 and 13 Mile Roads. The had children Mary Bradway, Annie Croft, James, Frank, Ira, David, Timothy, and Edward. Mary Render was married to Albert Bradway and they had one son, Judson. Judson became a prime developer of the Birmingham and Bloomfield Hill area, He was reputed to have paid one million dollars for the Mercer farm just before the crash of 1929. This property situated on the south side of 15 Mile Road (Maple Road) and East ofLahsher Road stood undeveloped through the depression and World War II, it then became Westchester, a development of someone else. Business reversals were said to have ruined his health, but Judson Bradway did not die until 1965. Elizabeth Gyles Houghten and Thomas Croft Render were married on December 8, 1851. Thomas Croft RenderS,l1,18 (son of William Render and Ann) was born in 1828 in East Crown, Yorkshire, England. Between 1860 and 1880 he was a farmer in Southfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan. He died by being run over a team of horses on June 27,1891 in Southfield, Oakland County, Michigan. He was buried in Southfield Cemetery, Southfield, Oakland County, Michigan.
